Review
This review applies to version 0.4
The latest version of this software will soon be reviewed by our
informers.
Woofy is a free webcomic downloader, designed for simplicity and ease of use. Its purpose is to help you download and keep an archive of your favorite online comics, while not getting in your way too much. Its main features are: * It can download a fixed number of comics, or all the comics that have been published since the last time it was run. * Uses comic information files in order to know how to download a certain comic, so it can be easily extended to support new comics. * It can download several comics at the same time, and remembers the active tasks when restarted. * Written in C# 2.0 for the .NET Framework. * Open source, licensed under the LGPL. |
What's new in version 1.1 beta
- A completely rewritten download engine.
- An improved user interface, with more information about the download process.
- Downloads comics from start to finish, and not backwards.
- Can embed additional metadata such as the title and description inside each downloaded strip (the metadata can be viewed using any image viewer that supports the XMP standard, such as XnView MP or Zoner Photo Studio)
- A log is kept for each downloaded comic
- After each download Woofy pauses for 3 seconds, in order to minimize server hammering.
- The settings files are stored under each user's profile - should fix some issues with Windows 7/Vista.
- Removed the proxy settings, Woofy will use whatever proxy has been set for Internet Explorer.
- Added two new comics - Snowflakes and Stuff No One Told Me
- Woofy can now be installed in portable mode What's new in version 0.4
Supports five new comics: Dueling Analogs, Heroes Inc, HijiNKS Ensue, Piled Higher and Deeper, College Roomies From Hell. MegaTokyo works again. I've decided to re-add support for the rootUrl element. |
